Death, dyslexia, and mayhem on Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally
(I guess I can't fix my miss-spelling on the title...)
5 daring drivers and 3 even more daring navigators suffered through the inaugural Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally Adventure Drive this weekend.
There was much death and destruction.
At least 3 poor squirrels lost their lives, as this crowd was not swerving like the station wagon in the insurance commercial where the rodents are high-fiving each other
33% of the vehicles involved in this weekends event suffered collision damage
The rallymaster (me) had a head on with a Honda Accord on a narrow twisty dirt remote backroad, well, not really a full head-on, rather more like we met around a blind corner and skidded into each other, fortunately we were both going very slowly and the damage was only cosmetic in that incident.
Not so lucky was iBlueVirus, who just about a quarter mile from the campground at the end of the day had the front end of his car savagely attacked by a crazed deer.
Neither Leo's 2.5RS or the deer were able to continue.
It was a long and greuling Saturday, everybody was nice to me and said they had fun, but a couple of the guys bailed this morning and missed out on our tour of the lost coast.
we will do it again next year, only at a little bit easier pace.

I can't tell what the total extent of the damage is, but the radiator hose got pushed into the belts and the radiator looks like it might have broken, it's not a pretty scene.

I got a call from Leo this morning after the inital estimate, sounds like the damage isn't all that bad afterall.
Hood, front upper cross member, bumper cover, fender, radiator and hoses should have his car back in pretty good shape.
My damage estimate looks to be about $1700, fender, bumper liner and paint.
Ouch!

What a great time. Thanks again, psoper for organizing the event. Next time, I'll either fly solo or we figure out how to make the event more girl friendly. Samantha mentioned a longer break. Maybe a beach picnic/bbq or something to break up the 12 hour long drive. I'll post pics asap.
And next time I'll stick around for the Lost Coast drive. I felt like I needed another twisty to wake me up on Sunday morning. But me and Bushido did our best to turn the return drive into a track day.
12 hours there. 2 1/2 back. hehehe
Poor Leo, is he still in Eureka?

dude leo that sucks ***. im so sorry to hear that, especially after all the bad luck stories you told us about that car. hope all is well, and may the rs be alive and well soon.
it sounds like a great drive. all the squirrel deaths seem a bit sad ( ) but those little buggers nearly got me into many accidents as well.
glad everyone is ok and hopefully ill be joining you guys for the next drive. i need new tires though.
oh folk with alk's howd you like it, how was the ride quality?

The ride quality was rough to say the least. Borderline grim for my co-driver (w/out a sports bra).
ive read that they arent the smoothest ride. alot of rattles and sound, did you go with the comfort ones?
ive got endlinks too, (great arent they) how much difference did you feel with the alk?

I got the sports setting. I notice a little more noise and the ride is a slight bit rougher but i really like it. The nose doesnt lift nearly as high as before on full throttle.
And after everything I've done to my suspension I now have a bit of oversteer... which was nice on the dirt.
