Or they closhed shop when you were in Hawaii and was forced to get the 8K ticket to get home.

There was one SEMA when National Airlines suddenly went bankrupt. There were a lot of showgoers that were stuck in Vegas. There was a sudden rush to the car rental places for those living in the Bay Area. Getting a ticket was next to impossible and people just decided to drive back home at "rape me" rent a car rates.

We're in the same boat with tickets for Thanksgiving. There's 7 of us flying out there and 5 of us had tickets with Aloha and/or ATA Thankfully we were able to get refunded on the ATA portion of the flights and rebook on United. My brother, sister and grandma are still up in the air. Supposedly Southwest is going to take over some of Aloha's routes (including Hawaii?). I'm not so sure about those tickets

Southwest used to sell seats on ATA flights, so I wouldnt doubt it if they started flying their own planes to Hawaii.

A friend was checking prices for Oct and it wasn't so bad, so maybe it will work out or maybe the prices haven't been affected that far out YET.

Check www.kayak.com - it is a pretty neat way to find tickets and price trending.

I've been filing dispute claims for ATA & Aloha all week for customers.

The worst are the people that are currently stuck in Hawaii & having a hard time getting flights home & the crying women who now have no honeymoon after their wedding.

Yep... I have a friend who went through that. She flew to Oahu and Maui for a wedding last week, and is slated to return next week. While there she was notified of Aloha shutting down and had to scramble to get re-booked on other airline(s).

I used to love flying Hawaiian (still have all my Premier luggage tags ), but they stopped flying direct from LAX to Kahului several years back so we stopped using them. I just flew American Airlines there last December, and they use an angled lie-flat in business class now which is great.

For some reason that doesn't come as a surprise to me... Flew ATA once and never again. Plane had a total power failure somewhere over the Canadian wilderness and had to fly 45 minutes on emergency generator power to the nearest airport, where we were then stuck for 9 hours with nothing more to eat than the crackers and Pepsi they fed us.

well the maintenance that my brothers company does is top notch.. hence why they are private company that ata contracted, but ATA was actually being shady and i guess tried to save costs? by not calling them all the time, when my brother was at SFO he said he would end up in the lunch area all day cause of no calls weird considering they had daily flights right?

we had an idea that ata was going down, about month or so ago when they stoped paying for his company and stuff like that
