Damn lazy PG&E workers not doing their jobs. Too busy talking on the phone and reading the paper.

I was off to see lord of the rings at coronet at 10 pm. I got there at like 9:45 pm. The second I arrived, the lights went off I didn't get to see the movie

I was there too, but I think my adventure was waaay worse than yours....i drove all the way across the city at 4pm just to get tix for that 10pm showing. It was originally scheduled for 11:15pm, so I went to have dinner w/some relatives on Clement first. For some reason, the restaurant was on one of the only blocks not affected by the blackout, so I had no idea what was going on until I was walking to my car at 7pm. It was like a ghost town!

People in the Richmond District drive bad enough under normal conditions, but w/no street OR stoplights, it was crazy....saw like 2 accidents, incl someone t-boning another car on 6th & Geary in front of KFC!

Anyways, I drove by the Coronet, which was pitch black & empty, so I guess they kicked everyone out. There were a couple people in line, but no one knew what the heck was going on. I just left and tried calling a couple people I knew in the Richmond, but they were all out of the city shopping. I ended up driving home all the way back across the city only to find that my neighborhood was dark too!

After nearly breaking my neck searching through my house for a flashlight & candles, I found a mini-Maglite & an Ikea candle lantern but NO MATCHES!? With nothing else to do in the dark, I just took a nap for like an hour until the power came back on at about 8:30pm.

After my hood's power was back online, I figured the Coronet's probably was too, so I called and kept getting the stupid automated message. I couldn't get a hold of my friend or his g-friend, who I bought tix the 11:15pm tix for, so I waited until 9pm and drove all the way back to the Coronet.

When I got to the theater, the power was back on, but the guy in the booth said they had bumped the showing up to 10pm. Fortunately, I decided to get there early, but now I had to sit my butt in the theater by myself and save my friends' seats. I finally got through to my buddy's crappy Nextel cell at around 9:20pm and let him know the showing was moved up. That bastard tried to flake out saying that he wouldn't make in time, but there was no way I had gone through all of this for nothing. So, I told him to get his butt over to the Coronet ASAP and just hung up.

I sat around for another 1/2 hour w/my shoes stuck in some awful mess on the theater floor when the lights went out again. Surprisingly, most of the audience was pretty laid back, but this was really too much for me. I wanted to leave, but my friend said they were only a few minutes away, so I just stayed put.

A couple minutes later, one of the ushers came back into the theater and said they were kicking everyone out. Feeling like a complete idiot, I headed for the exits w/the rest of the poor souls. Just as I was going through the exit doors, my friends pulled up. My buddy asked what was going on and after I told him, he started laughing saying, "Man, I drove all the way here for nothing?!" I knew he was being sarcastic, but man......lucky for him, he was driving his lady's car or else I would've dropped my drawers right in front of the Coronet and given his car a golden shower!

Well, sorry for the rambling on hella long, but what a night!
To top it all off, I got sick from all the running around, and now I dunno if I can play in my b-ball league game tomorrow!

I know I got some misplaced anger, but SCREW PG&E!!!! "Serenity now.......Serenity now!!!"

p.s. Did I mention that it was my Mom's b-day, and I spent like 4 times what I should've to get a foo-foo looking cake that the dumb waiter put in the freezer while we were having dinner?! Even if the guy had not put the cake on ice, my Mom probably still wouldn't have liked it......all she said was "What, no chocolate cake??" I should've just bought an Entemann's or stuck a candle in a Twinkie and called it a day!

ahh, it's okay....it is pretty funny now that the whole thing is over, but I felt like I was gonna pull a "Falling Down" when it was all happening!

Yeah, I got my re-admit tix. I'll probably wait a couple weeks until I head back.

This weekend should have been the busiest weekend of the year for my store on Haight St. We lost power at 5:45 pm yesterday and as of this typing it is still not back up. I figure I've lost well over $10,000 in sales in the last 24 hours.
