Just like OneManArmy stated, you should have a set of chains or cables in your car at all times when up in the moutains. But it looks like it shouldn't snow up there until Saturday of this week and it should be only lightly. You will be alright just chill on driving crazy. AWD isn't a automatic force field that will allow you to drive fast in the snow. Be careful up there and have fun.

Looks like I will be heading up there in my RS this weekend too - going to Reno tho. Thanks for the snow-driving advice and such everyone.. I don't have chains/cables and really don't want to buy them (moving to Hawaii in a few montsh) but.. Is there anywhere that anyone has seen them cheaper?
Any reason for someone who hasn't had very much experience driving in snow to NOT head up 80 to Reno this weekend? Looks like it will be clearer..
Thanks,
Jacob

I will be going up to SugarBowl on Thursday night to ride on Friday. I will probably be coming back on Friday, but who knows? I might get stuck up there

I really appreciate all the advice you guys are giving out. I'm planning to go up for the day on Sunday. Plannin' to leave the Bay Area early in the morning, get out there for the whole day, then head back home. Glad to hear that getting to Boreal isn't too hard. How long do you think the drive will take? And also how much should snow chains/cables cost anyway?

I believe Les Schwab has crappy cheap cables. I've never used mine and I go up every other weekend.
