Hey whats up guys?
I am currently helping to put the 2005 San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade together. One of the oragnizations wanted the theme of formula one race cars on and/or escorting the float. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who owned or could get a hold of one for the day of the parade: February 19, 2005.
Or if anyone knew who i could contact in order to make this happen, that would be really great. I think that it would really help the up coming Grand Prix in San Jose. I know there are a lot of teams up north around Sears Point and even down south. Well if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
FYI: The Southwest San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade is Internationally televised and is probably the biggest night time parade nationwide
We might also be interested in MOTO GP (is that what they are called) bikes.
Thank you for your time guys

There aren't any F1 teams based here but there are lots of old F-1 cars in private hands and for sale here.
They typically fetch a quarter million dollars for one of the lesser team cars without a lot of history, Ferrari McLaren or Williams cars that have been driven by big names will cost as mush as a million or more, so getting one to drive in a parade is probably not gonna happen, having one to put on a float isn't going to be easy either.
Here's one from for sale in Emeryville;

You might have better luck if you can settle for a formula ford, formula V or another of the "club formula" cars, there are lots of those around and they are cheap enough that its far more likely to find someone willing to let you borrow it.

Time is tight, you might check the schedules at the local tracks and make a fileld trip when one of them is hosting an SCCA or vintage event, not sure if you'll be able to chase much down this time of year though.
Cruise the rest of their on-line inventory and give Fantasy Junction a call- Bruce there knows just about everyone who owns a race car in the area, tell him you want the F1 car off the floor, but you'd be willing to settle for anything with open wheels, who knows- he might be able to hook you up with someone willing to help out.
