Creative Zen Micro
Or, get a pda phone like a treo 650. Just have all of your music on a server at your house or wherever, then stream it all to your pda. Hello 300gb portable player with no moving parts ^_^. Oooh, and you can listen to web radio too.

If you knew anything about Porsche you'd agree.

edit: BTW I saw that ad in the paper and was laughing, I thought it was way to overpriced.

If I knew someone was looking for something like a $250+ MP3 player I would have mentioned my friend who was selling his CZPMC. My friend had his for a month but sold his computer so cant use it anymore. Was selling it pretty cheap, just $200 compared to the retails $500. Of course he got his a "special" way which is why he was selling it so cheap.

yeh. Ipods are the trend. They are becoming a fashion accessory at my school. Everyone has to have one.
The Zen Micro is pretty well made. My friend let me borrow his DELL for a bit. I liked it. Simple and easy to use. The great thing about it is that it has a "home" button. soo nice. The only thing i didn't like about the dell was that it was a bit bigger and the wheels isn't as smooth and cool as the ipod wheel or the zen touch pad.
btw... a buddy of mine has the zen. He says you gota be careful cuz the buttons are really sensetive.
i'm in the market for an mp3 player. The Zen Micro is def up there. But 5GB is pretty scarce.
Remember that your music library will probably grow. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have some extra portable memory. You can use it as a memory card or something.

every creative labs mp3 player I've had (and I've had several) has either given me problems from the start, or broken down in a few months time... and their service reps aren't the best people. I've had my ipod for over a year now, no problems.
YES, they are 'trendy'... or are they. Perhaps we are mistaking what seems to be "trendy" (so it's a BAD thing that it looks nice?) for quality. There might be another reason why everyone owns one OTHER than 'trend stalking'. Perhaps because it's a really good mp3 and gets recommended by people who have one.
It's like why do 90 year olds and soccer moms who don't know anything about subaru drive WRX's? Because it's trendy? or because these are otherwise all-around well built cars with solid performance?
ipod couldn't possibly survive in the mp3 market with its prices (considering how flooded that market is) on trend or style alone... it's only because they really are the best (although when they started, the mac only thing was stupid =p ).

I have been in the market for about a month now looking for an mp3 player and I have to tell you that it is between the Zen Micro and Ipod (I own stock in Apple, I should buy an Ipod). But something is pushing me to the Zen Micro. First, I don't need 20gigs on my player. I have over 80gigs of music but I don't listen to it all. I would like it to have a little more then 5gigs though (Creative is coming out with a photo version like the Ipod photo but it is only in 5gig or 6gig, I might just wait) I love the touch pad of the Ipod and have played with the Zen more then a few times so I have that thing down pretty good. To me, both touch pads are nice (some people are complaining about the zen being so sensitive, just turn up the sensitivity to high, don't ask me why to high, just try it. It works a lot better). One thing I don't like about the Ipod is that you have to use iTunes to load your music, you don't have to use anything to load up your music to the Zen. You can just drag and drop. I also have a problem with how I am gonna listen to it in my car. I would like an aux connection but no go on the new subaru 05. I will have to get an fm modulator installed. The Ipod has so many accessories for it, it is crazy.
Ipod or Zen? Hmmmm? I will let you know for sure when I get one of them.

well. originally i had wanted a Zen, but since good ol Charles Schwabb is giving my parents an ipod-which will then go to me, GO IPODS!
My question is: Let's say we do use Itunes... does that mean we have to "buy" all our songs?

When you get it, check out the ipodlounge.com, some good info for enhancing your Ipod (in other words hacking) there. Also, you should buy this book called "Hacking the Ipod", shows you some really cool stuff. From creating a custom console for your car to changing the whole interface.

I just got the Micro and I love it. I have been comparing zen to ipod for about 2 weeks and finally got the zen. Some really cool features it has (that sounds like a yoda sentence). I am noticing that I have a little more music then what I want to fit on it but I am sure I can deal for now.
