Crazy sound in my exhaust.....yeah!

Ok so some of you will remember me mentioning that I sometimes have oil burn off smoke poor out of my hood scoop. Well it happens fairly regularly now.

So the other day it happens. I am like 5 minutes from the dealership so I go there. Bah. Stopped by the time I got there.

Well last night I was mostly watching while jeff put my new rotors on...sorry jeff, hard to stick my fat *** under the car to help. anyways....we start up my car and as it's idleing we here this noise...I'm like oh snaps I have heard that from inside the car..thought maybe it was a heatshield. Sounds like tiny ball bearings inside a can.

Anyways from under the car you can clearly hear it....gnarly. Sounds like it's coming from the downpipe. You can actually here it if you listen at the end of the exhaust.

Well my car idled for a while. The noise stopped. No smoke but I discovered a small pool of oil under my car.

I had the dealership look at this once MONTHS ago and they found no oil anywhere. Now I'm a quart down on oil..about. And having weird boost patterns sometimes and what seems to me as lack of power. wish I had a boost guage.

any ideas on what it could be? I think my turbo is going. That was my original thought on this about 6 months ago. The oil is freaking me out.

last time the oil smoke came out I pulled over and checked it out. It comes out right at the turbo.

Gonna try and get it back into the dealership early next week.

On a side note. Far as I can tell so far...the DBA rotors KILL those crappy centrix ones I had on there. So much nicer.

maybe the turbo seal is leaking periodically although I find that odd. Have you popped the downpipe off to see the inside of the hotside of the turbo? That would tell you alot.

nope. I'll let the dealership do that one. I don't want to give them any more reasons than they might find to mess with my warrantee.

are you still catted? if so, the seal going in your turbo could cause some oil out your exhaust and therefore could've killed the cat causing the funny sound.

that could totally be it.

Before all this started I was driving around. Got on it to get on the freeway and heard a loud bang...like my cat exploded. Then a rattle then the CEL came on. Was a hot cat code. Cleared it and it never came back so I figured I just lost a piece of my cat or backfired.

6 months later now this....could totally be it.

I'm pretty much 100% stock engine wise. Just have a cat back.

Dude you might want to take it to the dealership and tell them that you want your uppipe checked. You don't want that cat in your uppipe breaking down cause it'll go right through the turbo, then boom!
