hello 3 points...

your friend's best bet is to fight it with a "trial by written declaration". if the officer were to show up during an actual trial, your friend would likely be screwed. with a trial by written declaration, the officer has to submit extra paperwork that they do not get paid overtime to do.

is there anywhere on the ticket where it says the cop was using a radar gun?

Wow... that sucks =/

It was kinda stupid of your friend though =p

At least you only got a ticket for running the light, im sure it could have been a lot worse.

on a random sidenote, did you go to the rallyX? - how was it? (and the rally school in florida) - guess that school in florida tought you a little to much about rallying and not enough about driving in cities

I think mainly what people are saying is you need to feel out the situation, but when it comes time to make a choice - if you know that the cop knows exactly what's up - it's best not to play dumb. I don't think anyone is saying you need to give the cop a detailed description of everything you were just doing wrong in case he missed one.

You are 100% correct tho - in most cases the words uttered by the officer are simply designed to get you to make his job easier. I did get pulled over for doing a 45mph burnout down El Camino @ Wolfe once in my WS.6 and I got away. I seriously thought I was done for - I just told the cop the truth - I never drove the car anymore, and was being an idiot. He laughed, spent 15 minutes making me pucker my leather seat into a teeny mauna kea and then told me to take that badboy home. For that, I am eternally grateful.

ha ha... depends entirely on the cop ...

if your in milpitas/santa clara sheriff/that SScamaro chp cop.. theyll prob jus give you
the ticket straight up...

if your in oak , epa , or the cop is nice they probably won't care an let u go

also depends on how b0red the cop is, a bored cop will cite more often just for
something to do
