almost got nabbed for speeding today. Was letting my car engine brake down a hill, got about 10 over, saw a CHP sitting there, went OH CRAP, pulled out of gear to eliminate the engine noise, brake... when I get to about 3 over V1 goes crazy.... *phew* dodged a bullet.

What are you basing your defense on?
What agency issued the citation?
Subpoena the officer's training record, the unit's calibration, etc before your court date.
I beat a bull**** CHP radar ticket because the officer testified that he inspected/tested/calibrated the radar unit that morning.
Yet when I asked to see proof of this, he could not provide it.
However, I lost another radar ticket I thought for sure I was gonna win.
SOP is to have the unit calibrated at least every two years.
The unit the officer used to issue my ticket was sent out two weeks after my citation & was found to be out of calibration.
I brought this up, and suggested to the judge that every citation issued during this un calibrated state be dismissed.
The officer then mentioned that he was certified at visual speed estimation...which will **** you everytime.
I failed at asking the officer for proof of this certification.
Hence, I lost.
Oh, get a Valentine.

i read a story from a guy on BARF who had this same situation. The officer stated he was certified visual speed esimator blah blah blah. the guy picked his pen up off the table and threw it across the room. he then asked the officer to tell him how fast the pen was going.
he won.

1) how fast did the lidar say you were going?
2) how fast were you actually going?
if the answer to both 1 and 2 is the same, please proceed to question 3.
3) why are you fighting it?

Have any of you guys tried that GPS program that alerts you to speed traps. looks interesting. I was thinking of trying out phantom alert. anyone with personal experience in here?
