This is only a $600 laptop new, but has some data on it we would like back but is worthless to anyone else. It was a bare bones configuration with nothing special. This was an insurance sales persons laptop and they were at a clients and left the laptop and GPS on his front seat. We all know what happened next. SMAASH!

Well its not the most ideal thing to do , leaving out a laptop in plain view. Damn ghetto a$$ people stealing rather than work for a living, I hope you can get it back.

And this is why you want to run backups :/. Unfortunately a lot of people learn the hard way... Sorry to hear about the lappy. Honestly, its unfortunate to say that realistically its probably already reformatted, and it will probably be sold on ebay rather than craigs list..Gona be hard to find, but if you can data recovery isn't too painful as long as they didn't completely nuke the drive.
