Colin McRea to NASCAR?

Apparently the flying scotsman's spent some time here thinking about going roundy-round, this from the timesonlineUK:

European racers were once quite common in NASCAR line-ups. Jim Clark entered the 1967 American 500 at Rockingham, but not since 1978 has a European driver had a serious crack at NASCAR. That could be about to change. The prospect of McRae, a master of car control, bringing his flair and finesse to the States has got the Americans fired up. “Colin McRae in NASCAR? Hell, yeah,” Jimmie Johnson, runner-up in last year’s NASCAR Nextel Cup, whooped. “He’d be awesome.”

Hell, yeah, He'd be awesome!

Ha!

Might be cause the bad tempered bastard can't get a ride anymore in WRC.

Good driver though, just likes to break things..

Yeah, unfortunately roundy round is one of the few ways to actually make a living racing. Colin's hardly broke, i'd suspect, but he'd probably enjoy the high profile nature of nascar. For a little while.

Anyway, crashes are what the nascar fan wants to see, so Colin should be a big hit!

So he'll fit right into NASCAR.

I remember rumors about this last year... He must be somewhat serious if he's been talking about it for this long.

that rumor came out almost a year ago but nothing came of it at that time. I think it would be a kick. why not. It's not like he's doing anything else right now 'cept Dakar. But since he's so good at crashing, maybe he should go into the movies as a stunt driver

Nissan dropped out of Dakar for next year, so he probably won't be doing that anymore (unless he finds another manufacturer).

what, having none of thier cars finish was maybe a wake up call that they weren't cut out for dakar? It's awfully hard to beat the pajero's right now, but just wait a year or two and then when Mitsu's out of business they can come back again.
