Cobb stage 2 - Ca map or regular 91 oct

I moved up here from San Diego several months ago, and have always used the stage 2 Ca map on my 04 wagon. I was thinking about changing my basemap to the regular 91 octane stage2 map.

Is the gas any better up here in the bay area? Has anyone had any problems with the regular stage 2 91oct map around here? Pretty soon I will get a protune, but until then, I thought I would try the other map. Those of you with OTS maps, what are you using for a basemap?

I ran the non-CA stage 2 91 Oct map in my '02 wagon. I never had any problems,
but I also never put the car on a dyno either.

I doubt the gas in the SF Bay Area is any better or worse. I usually used Union 76 or Shell.

Good luck and welcome the the Bay Area.

on my04 wrx wagon the regular stage2 map knocked a lot.
You will need to run the 91 cali map or get a protune.

I deffinately recommend running the cali map because even that can experience some significant pinging on our gas. The standard stage 2 map will cause some pretty severe knock on most cars running cali 91.

Thanks

I ran the stage 2 map for awhile, then swtiched to the CA map, it seemed noticably smoother

I dyno'd my STi (was going in for a pro-tune) at Gruppe-S and put down 266/275 on the cali map, Mike said it was one of the highest he had seen from an off the shelf maps so he advised not to tune it

11-13:1 isn't safe at all for a subaru on california 91. I'm sure it was running richer than that or Mike would have recommended a custom tune.

Thanks

I've been running the stage 2 map for almost three months now and have had no pinging at all. Is this uncommon?

I switched to the Stage2 91 map as soon as I stopped at the 1st service station in California when I moved out here last year. I've been running stage2 91 map from that day up until this weekend, when I read this thread and found out there was a stage2 california map.

I never experienced any pinging or knocking with stage2 91. Reading this thread was enough to get me to go do the whole AccessPort upgrade process to get the latest maps so I could try out the Cali map. Unmarry the AP, dig up the power supply and serial cable, run the AP upgrade, upgrade the map software, dl the latest maps, remarry the AP, flash the cali map. What a lot of work! I'm running stage2 cali now. I'll reply if I see any noticable affect on performance.
