Ya old news.
The hackers arnt after personal info from Sony customers. Its all about 1 guy.
The guy that moded PS3's and had write ups on how to do the same yada yada yada.. Sony went after him and I think they ended up taking him to court where he was not allowed to touch/play/own a PS3 for X amount of time. Then they went after him financially.. 4Chan said you better drop the case or else... Sony didnt drop it, and look what happened... coincidenc?

That being said this class action is from a Canadian who trusted Sony's (as did I) security system, which has been breached. Also was informed that our information was encrypted, but certain information was only in a text doc. I'm for this class action because i trusted Sony's network. If you pay so much, like purchasing the system, DLC, DLGs or DLMs and having your account on their servers, wouldn't you be upset about? I know I am, but then again this is just my opinion.
hackers could get into your bank account
hackers could use your credit card
hackers could hack online stores for customer information
oh wait, they already do, even before this whole PS3 thing...
It can happen almost anywhere.
Yup, but if Sony requires your financial info to make their product functional at a particular level, you have a reasonable expectation that your sensitive information is secured in good faith. That goes for any business that accepts & stores your financial information, they are liable for locking ish down.
Yes there is a risk of anything getting jacked over teh interwebs, but if a big company says "you pay now, we hold onto your info to keep payments current", it damn well better be secured. If not, that big company better have deep pockets for damages, as well as a bigger plan to rectify the problems before they repeat. Oh wait , in Sony's case, it was repeated *womp womp*.

The whole thing didnt even start out as trying to get personal info on Sony customers. They were just messing with Sony, and a few stray haxz0rs decided to go a step farther.
Screw PS3, the guy that got busted is amazing! You would think they would hire someone like and have him make it so people can't hack! They deserve it, what you get for the crap network they provide.......
