CHP Plans 'Zero Tolerance' Campaign For Bay Area
(Bay City News) SAN FRANCISCO If you're tempted to speed on local highways over the next couple of days, think twice before you push your luck. California Highway Patrol officers will be out in force Thursday and Friday looking for speeders.
The CHP said Thursday that it will have special "speed teams" patrolling Highway 85 between Highway 101 and Interstate 280.
Extra officers will also be on the freeways through San Jose, Cupertino, Saratoga and Los Gatos.
Friday, the CHP will be looking for speeders on Interstate 880 during the morning through San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward and Union City.
The patrols are part of the CHP's "Zero Tolerance Speed Campaign."

This has been going on since the beginning of the week. Lots of complaints have been received by CHP with people driving way above the speed limits. Over 100 mph in alot of cases.
South bay?
we get around to quota time about every month and a half..
but we dont have it nearly as bad as you fools commuting on highway 80. That road is a constant speed trap.. and they announce they are cracking down every third week or so.
Theya re also enforcing a zero toleranc epolicy this week
which sucks.. since i have to drive up there tonight.

Heh that's funny. I was driving northbound on 85 yesterday in my truckat about 75-77mph, and there was a CHP motorcycle officer sitting on the center median with his radar gun. I know he clocked me - he pointed the gun right at me and there were no other cars around me within 30 car lengths or more, front or back. But he didn't bother to pull me over.

Edit: on a lighter note, that could be a good thing....meaning, there are less officers on roads like Hwy 9, Mt. Hami/Mines, Calaveras, Bear Creek, etc. Anyone up for some canyon carving?

they've done a few of them already. Been doing them state wide.
Just have to watch for where they are at any given time.
it was bound to come...they just got a HUUUUUUGE grant so they've got to show their worth to the state. Kind of like super troopers. Got to write more than 3 tickets a month to get the dollars.
