CHP memo, is it true?

I did see alot of folks pulled over lately and I guess we can slow down a bit and gain from this. I was emailed by a friend....maybe someone posted it already but hell, I still posted it. Never too late when it comes to PO PO's..

memo:

California Highway Patrol has launched a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy in CA that started on January 25, 2006. The state estimates that 22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to pay California Highway Patrol officer overtime.

There will be 90 California Highway Patrol officers on duty at all times patrolling the 11 freeways. Five of which are the following: 5, 10, 101, 580, 680 freeways. Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every Highway Patrol officers are supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes.

They have issued 50 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you live or work in California and you must take one of these freeways - It's up to you how fast you are driving when they do pull you over.

This is a test by the CHP to raise the extra funds for the State of California. The California State Legislators dreamed up this program to help close the budget gap.

So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you. You've been warned!

Thank goodness for RA gears! I now go 55mph on the freeway cuz I'm geared too low

Speaking of, I know they can write you up for going too slow on the freeway, but how slow is TOO slow (speaking mainly of 680 and 580)? I know trucks and cars with trailers is supposedly 55mph maximum, but has anyone ever seen a minimum speed limit sign?

Thank you A very vague answer by the socialists of California, but more than I knew, none-the-less. It sounds like it's pretty much up to their discretion, as usual.

just an attempt by "the man" to keep us from speeding...

just like how in my town, they park unmanned police cars at a few different locations a day, and leave them there all day so people will slow down when going down that street...

I drive for a living. It is not fake, I have seen more CHP out on the roads last couple weeks. It's not just us fancy Suby Drivers getting popped, it's everybody!!!! Not sure about the whole every 10 minutes thing, but I have seen an awful lot of cars pulled over for speeding. Even on 280, so watch out!!!!! I say 55ish is not bad, 70 may be pushing the envelope. Also keep an eye out for the funly green 06 Mustangs too, those are very discreet. Law makers make me sick sometimes, instead of catching all the real criminals they have to look for people that like to travel a little too fast. Anyways, for I drive for a living, I do not want to get popped. Keep it on the track, or on a isolated back road.

it is fake, they can't do that. Making the statement, "Patrol officers are supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes," is ridiculous.

Even though it's fake, I have seen more CHP's pull people over in the last week than I've seen in a long time. On 280S the other day, there were 4 CHP motorcycles all with their radar pointed at the road. I'm surprised I haven't been pulled over yet.

Hmm...I think I should get one of those gear set for myself. It would force me to slow down on freeway. How high is your rpm at 65mph on freeway?

That's like the quota that they're not supposed to have...
