i got about 9000 miles on my 04 wrx. i started to mod it and lately my check engine light keeps coming on about ever couple of weeks. the only real proformance upgrade i have is a 100% atmo. BOV and a turbo back exhaust. at first i thought it was my exhaust so i got a CEL fix. a couple weeks after i got it installed my engine light came on again. could it be something else like the "engine" itself? any help would be appreciated.

 

Its probably your BOV. Try putting it back to the stock BOV and reset the ECU. If it still pops up again get the code pulled with a scanner.

 

Dude, go have the CEL pulled.

Anywhere can pull it, but if you go to Gruppe-s in the south bay or LIC in the north bay, they can tell you what it is and if you need to worry about it.

I just noticed you are in Castro Valley - man that is spitting distance to Gruppe-s, off Industrial and 880 in Hayward. Ask for Mike and ask him to pull the code and explain it to you.

yea i got my cel fix from gruppe-s. does it cost anything for them to pull the code?

really free, thats great to hear. my cel isnt on right now i reset my ecu, should i come by when the cel is on or does it not really matter?

 

cel will have to be on to get pulled

 

after you reset the ecu... the cel code is no longer in the ecu... so wait til next time your cel comes on again... come by and we'll check it out for you

hahaha not that hard. i got my engine light code pulled and it said high boost and evap system gross leak. anybody kno what evap system gross leak means?

 

I'd put money on it having to do with the BOV...

 

i knew i should have asked you guys to pull my cel when i was there haha.
