Please don't lump real hip-hop in w/ the kiddy sh-it.
I finally realized why kids don't like mature hip-hop, it's because they don't get it. They don't even understand the "Big words".
Damn shame. Seems like all movie theathers have this problem these days. How to avoid it? Go to early shows.

The idea is just ridiculous. I'm not even a huge fan of rap (please don't anyone go calling 50 cent hiphop or I'll explode) but I know Pac's old shiz well enough to know that this little clown can't come anywhere near the talent and skill that TuPac had.

Just had to let my thoughts be known. I agree 100% with Gagan on the current state of radio music. Horrible trash with no originality.

Ah well, hope for a brighter tomorrow right?

Also compared to Notorious BIG and even Big L. Whatever. 50 Cent is alright on some cuts, but most of it is catchy bullsh*t.

"I love you like a fat kid loves cake."

That's the only line I like from him because it's so retarded, it's funny.

Blah, when the hell is Jin Tha MC coming out?

Beyond the typical lyrics, 50cent just sounds like slow to me. Like Mace ya know, but kinda drunk at the same time. Bores me.

A lot of rappers today rap slow, look at fabulous or P. Diddy, but if ya want to hear a good MC listen to Del, espcially his "Future Development" CD, his rhymes are some of the best I've heard and he raps about things that people can also relate to such as trying to pick-up girls at malls and such.

Whatever the hell happened to E-40. He was da ish, no one could flow like him. Or did he already make enough $$? "Sprinkle me mang!"
Ludacris is one rapper who I think deserves to be popular. He's got that funky Dirty South charisma or something I dunno. He's just really likable or something haha...

50 Cent was intriguing when "Wanksta" first came out (mebbe cuz I hate Ja Rule heh heh) but he sucks donkey ***** live and I get headaches whenever I hear "In da Club" for what must be the 10,000th time. Nelly another wanna-be rapper that I can't stand. He sounds like *** live, and all his tracks sound the same anyway. Sad state that rap is in now heh....

That's why I've switched to J-pop

My personal favorites:

Established radio-played emcees:
2 Pac (Pac can do pure emceeing as shown on "Got My Mind Made Up")
Notorious BIG
Jurassic 5
The Roots (Black Thought)
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Nas
Jay-Z (on some levels)
Eminem
Wu-Tang (yes, I know they've slipped for the past few years, but I still like 'em)
Tribe Called Quest
Busta Rhymes
Common
E-40
Mobb Deep
LL Cool J (if you ignore those crappy love songs)

The "in-between" emcees (somewhat popular, don't get much radio play or doesn't get any radio play at all anymore):
Canibus (NO one comes off as ferocious as he does from what I've heard)
Big L
AZ
Blackalicious (Gift of Gab)
Mad Skillz (a.k.a. Skillz)
Cormega
Rah Digga
Keith Murray
Crooked I
Lady of Rage
The Pharcyde
Craig Mack
Pharoah Monch
Hieroglyphics

Underground:
Aceyalone
Copywrite
Juice
Arsonists
MF Doom
(there's more I can't think of at the moment)

Radio-played emcees who some people hate, but I think they got somethin' when they get opportunities:
DMX (listen to "Whatcha Gonna Do?" with Jayo Felony and Meth)
Ludacris (listen to the "Made You Look" remix)
G-Dep ("Special Delivery")

Up-and-Coming Guys:
Jin Tha MC (dope freestyle, sh*tty writtens, WTF? This dude's slackin' off in the studio after beating some dudes on BET.)
Obie Trice (another Eminem signed "talent".... or lack thereof. How many lines does he have to rhyme with his name, "Obie"?)

Seriously, producers and record labels haven't been getting any ill talent for a very long time. Look, the last time anyone remotely good stepped into the scene was when Rah Digga joined Flip Mode Squad a few years ago. After that, nothing. Most of the rappers these days with a few exceptions are wack. I don't even feel any hunger or passion through any of the new crap. The one guy who's made it big mainstream at the moment and still sounds good to me is Eminem. He keeps it consistent. You can hate on him all you want, but I still think he's ill and he's really matured with his music and writing.

I had high expectations for 50 Cent since Em signed him and said he's the sickest m*therf*cker he's heard. Too bad "How To Rob" was the only good song I would keep on my all-time list of favorite tracks, everything else just went downhill after that. He's inconsistent. When he shines, it's a flicker. No consistency.
