I have the stromung dual tip and love it. The only other exhaust I wouldn't mind running is the Prodrive oval tip.

Cobb makes a great exhaust, as does scoobysport. The scoobysport is awesome, but they are made in the UK and expensive.
i had greddy evo with stock hangers for over a year...no melted bumper here.

+1 now im running borla hush

What, straight pipe from the downpipe? I don't know...I don't think it sounded that awsome to be honest...no offense to smitty or anything but it was just loud exaust and turbo whine. I want something tasteful not just...bleh. If that makes sense. It might sound better since I would have the stock DP, and i suppose I could just disconnect my axleback, go for a drive, and see how I like the sound o_O.

--edit--

So since it would not effect my smog tests, will it make my car illegaly loud or something?

I've got an evo 2, and the tip stick out the rear like sore thumb...really big one. It sounds alrite...but definitely don't expect stock quietness with any exhaust.

forget the noise, keep the stock muffler and lose the 2 downpipe cats and get power instead

power>noise

Borla Hush Video Clip:

this car has a catless helix UP and catless helix DP in addition to the borla hush

I've had cops look at it and then continue on their way. The other night I was on the side of the road talking to someone with my car on. A cop drove by, stopped next to my car, backed up tro look at the exhaust, drove off (I then went and turned off the car), then he stopped, backed up again, looked at the exhaust, drove off.

I've heard nothing but good things about the new COBB cat-back. Sounds good, and it looks right on the car.

Does anyone know how loud the cobb is, or if its noise level is street legal? Do the cops have a tool to detect how loud it is? I wouldn't be running an after market DP for the time being, I am trying to hold onto my waranty for a little bit, not to mention the WRX is pretty agile stock; I am just enjoying my stockness for the moment :P. I heard a couple helix titaniums today at the EBAIC meet, and they sounded pretty throaty . Have an offer to buy one off of one of the guys, however I am not sure I like the size of the exaust outlet..I am picky about that.

Here is a before and after of the Greddy SP2 on my car. Its one of the quieter catbacks out there.

the MRT cat back has the best gains for a catback on the WRX (according to Turbo Magazine's dyno tests) and it looks relatively stock. It's kinda quiet as I can still hear my engine over the exhaust while all the windows are rolled up, but that could be due to the dynamat I have in my trunk.

Cops just guess how loud your car is. If I remember correctly, the legal limit is 93dB at 3K RPM.
I personally love the way the helix sounds, but it is way too loud, and has the rice look. I don't need any more tickets or to be bothered by the police.
