Catback advice
Ok so I think for now I am going to skip messing with my downpipe because I wan't to keep SOME of my waranty for a decent amount of time :P. But I was figuring I would go cobb AP and then some sort of catback. But if I don't replace my downpipe, will I really get that much of a sound difference with just a catback?
Since I would be running the stock downpipe, would I want to get a loud catback so I would be able to hear things a little better? I was thinking about the cobb, which from what I hear is a moderate leveled catback. Borla hush although I love the look, I think it would be too quiet, or is that just at idle?
What does everyone here run, do you like it, and why?
Thanks!

don't waste money on a loud canister style catback. It will just lead you to the smog ref.
Get a Stromung single or dual tip, Prodrive axle back, borla hush, or something like that.
Not having the downpipe just makes you not hear the turbo spool as much, thats all.
Check the norcal classifieds, there are both stromung and prodrive exhausts that are used, and from local people.

If you are going to keep your downpipe for ever, you could do a super cheap alternative and go with straight pipes. Now I know you heard mine, and they were probably pretty loud, but that's cuz it's catless. I have a friend here on the boards (he's in Alamo) that's running a stock downpipe and a 2.5" straight pipe catback. He had it made for roughly 130, including tip, if I remember correctly. His car sounds really, really nice, not loud at all with the stock cats. Unless you are looking for a name brand piece.

Ok so my computer completely just shut down while I was typing this, RAWR so here goes the second draft :P. I have heard the stromungs can get very loud, how are they realisticly? I like the borla hush, but do you think with a stock dp it would be too quiet? Will I be able to really hear it more then stock catback? Also, don't worry, there be no melon launchers on my car! The main thing I want is a good sounding car that is noticeably louder then stock - I need to hear my revs better lol.
Also, smitty, I think I know the guy you are talking about - I met him at like 2 AM in downtown danville a few months back. I forget his name, but he fits the description you gave me exactly. He had nothing but good things to say about you when I mentioned your name. Also, I am not sure I like the sound of catless straight pipes.. :/ Maybe thats just me.

you might want to try the greddy exhausts. both the sp2 and evo2 are pretty quiet. the sp2 is single tip and stock looking, and the evo2 is single tip but will give you more of an aftermarket look.

Evo2 is kinda getting into melon launcher territory I think..Does anyone have feedback on the stromung or the borla hush, and maybe the cobb as well?

I have the stromung dual tip and love it. The only other exhaust I wouldn't mind running is the Prodrive oval tip.
Cobb makes a great exhaust, as does scoobysport. The scoobysport is awesome, but they are made in the UK and expensive.

So before cobb's current catback design, they were basicly reselling stromung cb's? Hmm..Well people again with any of the catbacks mentioned, I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks

) if you want sound.
