Remember to have someone who knows about the model of car well check it out too since Carfax means squat. I'm here to tell ya you can have a clean Carfax and plenty of accident history...

 

true, carfax mostly just covers major incidents.. you could've had half your wrx sideswiped and had ugliez fix it on the side and no report will have had ever been made....

It seems like it also has to do with how the accident was handled - like, if someone pays out of pocket for a repair and never reports it, it will never show up.. The weird thing is though, I have a friend who got in a pretty major accident in his C5 - something like $14k damage, and he handled it through his insurance and everything. When he went to sell the car, Carfax was clear. Confusing..

Either way, it's good to check because lots of times stuff does show up, but shouldn't be solely relied on is all.
