Unhappy carbon-ti fix it ticket

I got pulled over last night in Berkeley, for modified exhaust fix-it ticket, on a HKS Carbon Ti.
As far as I know, that catback is under 95db, and should be street legal in CA, but the cop insisted it was too loud.
Are there any cool cops around the bay area that i could get this signed off without putting the stock one back?

Thanks for posting that up...hadn't read that yet.

Got to love SEMA.

yeah man...get your car tested. Cops don't carry around db meters so they really do have to go off of their best guess....maybe the cop wasn't a dick but was just wrong? It happens.

Get it checked...if it's under the limit you can get the ticket written off. Then carry the proof in your car for the next time you get pulled over.

This is why I will be putting a twin tip exhaust on my car.....less noticeable.

i had a printout of this FAQ from the HKS site which i showed the cop, he read it, but he didnt buy it. he said i'm welcomed to show it to another cop, and it's cool if the other one would believe it.

Carry it in your glove box? Please i bet a million dollars your monkey *** reaching for that lame as slip is going to only aggravate a "DICK" cop and provoke his tard as into popping your hood... trying not to look stupid and let you go scots free...

Cops that hand out exhaust tickets and do random hood checks or write no front lic. tickets are pus$y as "DICKS" that cant take a real call..

So i say to those cops...

edgar,

sorry i had to rant but this issue is starting to really **** me off!!!

hey I've had my fair share of time with bastard power tripping cops. Been pulled over for no front plate....stuff like that. Shoot once I got pulled over. Removed from my car. passed 2 field sobriety tests and got held in the cold for close to 2 hours. After searching my car and finging nothing and being threatened arrest for being on meth they told me I was getting a ticket for running a red light.....emphasizing..AFTER. I wasn't informed for over an hour and a half why I was being detained and searched. I fought and won the ticket.

So yeah...but I do know there are some cops that do just make mistakes. I mean yeah....harleys and mustangs generally get left alone while civics and wrx's are sitting on the side of the road.

but once again..some cops do just make mistakes.

on the keeping it in your glove box. It worked for me. I had a letter from gov. Davis about AEM intakes when I drove my civic. I got other tickets but not that one while I had that in my car. Some cops have been warned by judges on excess violations on the sourt and do fear being embarassed in court and possibly repromanded......he's gonna right you the ticket regardless and he's gonna probably tell you to pop your hood regardless....so you might as well try to avoid the ticket.

I've had my hood popped way too many damn times. That's why with my WRX I will have not ONE freakin illegal part. Not worth it to me. Let em right me a fix it for my stinking windows or my no front plate......not gonna make that damn trip to the state ref again.

hks carbon ti/hipower are noise legal in CA? Since when? Turbo magazine rated them at 102 dB or something in their exhaust test.

Carbon-Ti / Hi Power is noise legal with silencer on. Vapor, showing the FAQ form HKS website was probably not convicing enough to any cops. Just go to state ref and get the sound level tested with silencer on, you'll pass and cool. And it's free.

From what I understand, when you go to the smog ref and have it written off, they will place a sticker of compliance on the back of the ticket you received for the exhaust. After you present it to the judge and have the ticket dismissed, you can carry the ticket with you and show and officer in the future that you are in compliance with the sticker on the back of the previous ticket.

And yes, judges do come down hard on officers for writing bogus tickets. I have been in court rooms when judges scream at the officers for wasting their time by writing tickets that are obviously bogus.

site might be old, but the thing is, the carbon Ti is considered one of the louder exhausts and even at idle it's louder than the 95 db allowed in California. Correct me if i'm wrong, just info from what i know. I personally own a carbon Ti myself, just got pulled over on presidents day, however the cop never said anything about it.

it slides in then is held in place by a single bolt. I would try and see if someone can let you borrow one since they aren't that cheap, they are around $50.
