CARB OE stickers
So a friend of mine is getting a GReddy turbo kit for his KA24 (S14). With some internal work he's having done on the engine this thing is going to be a freakin monster. At like 7psi he'll be gaining on 400whp and he'll be able to safely boost close to 20psi.
And sometime around the turn of this year he'll be able to get a CARB OE sticker for it !
You think we'll ever get this? There's gotta be more upgraded WRXs out there than turbo'd KA24s. If GReddy made this a legal kit I'd sell my vf34 in a heartbeat... although I might continue to use the UTEC and put the eManage on for smog checks
By the time I have to get my car smogged I might be a daddy and I don't even want to imagine how little time I'd have to try and get my car to pass smog let alone getting ticketed and ending up having to remove everything before a depressing trip to the state ref. Has anyone even heard any rumors about legal kits?

I doubt that will ever happen for our cars....you are legally not allowed to modify the emissions for your car so technically if a legal kit were to come out u'd be keeping your stock uppipe and downpipe
Things like catless up and down pipes will never be legal but a upgrade turbo system could be. So could the Vishnu and Cobb computer upgrades, if the manufactures would spend the money to get the carb EO # (Exemption Order Number). They do this by spending money and hiring engineers to show carb that their mods don't actually increase emmisions. Carb dosn't mind us making our cars faster or more efficient, they just want their money in the process.

take a look at the gun companies that have to certify their guns as kalifornia compliant so they can sell a model here. each gun costs like $4000 to certify...

Hmmm the point here is time. I can change out a downpipe in no time. If I could be spared having to change out the turbo and injectors and uppipe too if I had to go to a ref, I'd take that route.
As of now, for smog I'm putting my stock dp back in, with a lean utec map, and seeing how it goes. If I get told to go to a ref though... its will be teh sux0r

i think we should be able to mod our cars as long as the smog doesnt go up too much.. they are stopping the 30 year old cars being smog excempt after 1976 too!! DAMNIT ARNOLD!! on the other hand... smog techs do make good money...

forget vishnu and cobb... why can't GReddy make a kit that's legal? They already have a kit and like i said I'm sure if it was legal they'd sell WAY more of these than the T04 kits they make for the KA24. Sometimes I just don't understand the choices these companies make. I had a CARB OE sticker for an ICEMAN instake for a freakin Saturn man moons ago. WTF?!

Jason, you used to drive a SATURN?!

But yeah, I'd be very happy with a very legal way to make big power. Shame it's probably never going to happen

Greddy don't bother to make it legal because people will buy it without the sticker. I don't blame them. Why would Greddy spend the $ to get the CARB sticker if it doesn't impact their sales?
