Car won't turn over, any advice?
Got out of class today and tried starting my car, but it wouldn't turn over. The starter clicks, and you can hear fuel being primed. I bought a brand new battery in hopes my battery was dead, but this did not solve the problem. I took the starter out and took it down to Kragen and it passed the test. Over the past 8 hours of pulling different parts off and checking them, I haven't been able to find anything out of the ordinary. I was able to get the car to turn over ONCE since this morning on its own. The car starts if I clutch start it. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I'd rather not take it to the dealer, but its not looking good. Could my starter still be bad even though it passed the test at Kragen? Could I have chipped teeth off my flywheel? I haven't launched in MONTHS.... thanks.

So even with a new battery it won't turn over?
I am assuming you have an 07 wrx? Please always included as much info about the car when posting troubleshooting questions.

Brand new optima red top.

Was able to clutch start the car at noon and get it home with no check engine light. Car is throwing no codes.

I was going to say alternator, but if even with a new battery you won't turn over, I am not sure. Starters going out so early, not really common, but not unheard of. Could be a fuel delivery problem. Spark?

Starter has 40k on it. Fuel pump seems to be working as it makes noise and you can hear the fuel being pumped through into the cylinders. I checked all the spark plugs for problems or flooding, but the cylinders were dry. Spark plugs have about 5k on them, they are stock heat iridiums. I've verified the power and ground wires to the starter and everything seems fine. Car started up ONCE about 20 mins ago completely randomly. Let it warm up and tried again with no luck. The starter makes more of a "popping" noise, but I don't have experience with the noise.

It's under warranty, but I'm not exactly within the bounds of decency, if you know what I mean. Guess that's the last thing to do, oh well time to start swapping parts.

When you try to start it, does it make a "popping" sound continuously?? on one of my other cars, I had a "popping" noise also and it was my distributor that was messed up

There is no distributor on our cars.
How much work do you have to do to make the car "kosher" for a trip to the dealer? If it's just downpipe and such, it'd be worth the hassle to try fixing this under warranty. Otherwise, I'd be going to LIC.

Yeah swapping back my exhaust now. I have a feeling its the starter, even though it passed the test. It "pops" one time eacj time I try and crank it, unless I managed to chip my flywheel.
Are the honda forums missing a member?
