I walked up to my '04 wrx wagon this morning and had a nice sprise waiting for me...
My car was broken into and my 2-10" JLw3's, PPI 5-channel amp and my radar detector were stolen.
The 5-0 came and said the theif pryed open the back window to get in.
Only minor damage was done to the actual car...my Alpine deck wasn't stolen only because it was screwed in and they couldn't find the last two screws that were far back under the dash.
What ticks me off is I am soooo paranoid about this exact thing happening that I try to do everything in my power to lay low...especially around where I live.
Insurance says they'll insure everything that was bolted to the car, so the subs and amp are covered along with all the damage, but the radar detector isn't.
Happy hump day to me!

Sorry to hear about that, but atleast your insurance will cover most of it
I had my subs stolen as well along with all my CD's and a bunch of other things, but my insurance didn't cover any of it.
What insurance do you have?

Sadly, even if a place is really safe, some ***** isn't going to think twice about randomly jackin' some cars in that area once in a blue moon.

glad that your insurance cover it. if you live in complex and park your car inside. maybe is your neighbors, since they are the people who can see it.

I've had my system stolen out of every car I've ever owned... they tried in my suby but couldn't get the deck out so they just stole 120 or so cd's instead.
It's unavoidable so being paranoid is just not worth it.
If you need some replacement stuff, I pretty much decided to keep my stystem but I may part with it for you.

this is the reason that I keep my CDs at home and just have a few of them in the car.
I hope the insurance gets your money quickly and that the window is safe.

Thanks for the responses!
I got the car already in the shop and they're gonna fix all the damaged parts...mostly the stereo area that got scraped up and bent tryign to rip the stereo out and the bent molding around the door frame where the theif broke in.
Fortunately, I looked and my CDs ARE there. Kinda made me scratch my head why they were left. Also my new ipod from Christmas was just laying in the back area where the subwoofer used to be. I guess they were in a hurry. I'm very fortunate those weren't stolen too.
I didn't have an alarm on the car, but I've been planning on that being my next purchase since the fall. You can bet that it's the next thing on my 'things to purchase' list.
Does anyone know how the insurance people handle reimbursement for electronics? To they give you money for what it's worth or just give you replacement parts(aka crappier ones)?
