Car accident.
I don't have any pictures but my cousin has an 06 wrx and he got rear-ended last night. Basically the other guy didn't see the traffic up ahead and kept driving until it was to late to brake. Right now the exhaust on his car is about 2 feet further in than it is suppose to be, turbo boost cuts off after .05 on the stock gauge, his CEL and cruise control lights are on. Does anyone know if his car would be consider salvage?
yo all depends. FIgure out whats broken you should be able to tell how much it will be to fix roughly based on dealer parts and getting raped. If it's over 65-70% of the kelly blue book value of the car, its toasted. If its an 06 wrx and kbb is somewhere around 15 im guessing, if there is 10k is damage you can bet its on its way out.
Subarus are replaceable! and they keep you safe in the mean term. I'd see how it plays out.
Personally I didn't want my 05 sti my friend crashed into the a tree. Once damage reached over 23k it was done for. I had bought the car new, put lil over 45k on it, less than 2 months before I spent about 5k on it. Ohlins/springs/topmounts/sways/bunch whiteline bushings, brand new rps kit. Couldn't salvage anything. Anything I wanted off the car I had to pay for them to take off @ like 100 bucks an hour. and the suspenision w3as ****ed. I have a new suby and am happy, but im still paying out the a hole, where I woulda had my 05 payed off like 2 years ago.

Why is it even a question? This is the easiest fix ever.
LET INSURANCE FIGURE IT OUT.
He was rear ended. The other guys insurance has to pay for it.
In all likely hood if it's really pushed 2 feet up then it'll probably be a total. That's a lot of frame and subframe damage. Why is your cousin still driving it? Park it. Go get a rental car. The other persons insurance needs to pay for that as well.
I'd start pulling aftermarket bits off if you don't have receipts for them. Cause insurance won't pay for those.

Sry for the bad info, I was just curious. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. I know he's suppose to wait for the insurance to figure out the numbers but he's been stressing about it. So i figured i could get some opinions of what might be wrong or if anyone had a similar situations where it might be useful.

Before all my damage was accessed I made it clear I didn't want the guy (good guy) doing any favors or anything to try and save my car that I rather have it to totalled out.

Let's ask some questions:
1. Is the rear window blown out?
2. Is the vehicle still driveable (rear wheels rubbing against 1/4 panels?
3. Can you access the trunk?
4. Is the drivetrain displaced in any way?
5. Is there an exhaust leak? If so, where?
6. How fast was the person going at impact?
Let's get the answers to these questions, then we can figure it out.

Update:
I finally got around seeing and taking pictures of the car but its actually not that bad. The exhaust is about 1 feet in but its all messed up. We got it towed today to a shop and the dude said it shouldn't be too bad, the really big problem was really the exhaust. As for the CEL and Cruise light he said it shouldn't be a big problem. But he will have to check and find out.
As for question on top 1-4 is not applicable. 5) I heard exhaust leak from need the mid of the car, and i found a hole about 1 inch on the muffler part of the exhaust. It looked like the hanger bad the whole because it hanger is totally bent. 6) My cousin was on the freeway and there was traffic so he slowed down but the car behind him didn't notice the traffic, so i'm guessing it was a good 40 Mph, maybe more, hit.
Pictures, sorry they are kind of blurry because they were taken off my phone.

I call shenanigans. There is no way that the bumper can absorb a 40MPH hit, and still be that attached to the car. If questions 1-4 don't apply, then I'd have to say it's very repairable, and the car hit him at possibly, MAYBE 10 MPH of impact speed.
Impact speed = your cousins' speed subtracted from the speed of the car that hit him...
