which car for $35k?

I'm trying to help my family look for a good car to buy for ~$35k or less.

has to be automatic, 4 door, brand new, and of course reliable.
no SUV, no truck, and no van. no fwd :]

It wont be used for motorsports lol, but for commute around town from day to day. Don't Need top of the line hp and lbs of torque, but would be nice.

currently considering Lexus' is250 and the Subaru Legacy. Too bad STi's dont come in auto huh lol..my grandma will be driving this car the most i think.

any suggestions, ideas, or info?

TIA for your help!,
Justin

^ M35 is 40k+ & TL is fwd. Go for the G35 or Legacy with the H6.

Lexus IS350. The 06's should be going for invoice right now.

fwd was just my own personal preference because i like the feel of rwd turn-ins (at least from experience) as for ill be driving this vehicle in the future as well. awd would turn out more stable and safe eliminating oversteer imo. although its not going to be used for Motorsports, still prefer the quality of rwd or awd- just like how many people would prefer acura over kia, especially if ~30-35k is going to be spent.

well since you bring this up, did you have a fwd vehicle in mind?
my family wanted to pass on the acuras

The IS is a very good value for a Lexus. My friend has an IS350 and he loves it. I've ridden in it for hours when I was hanging out in So Cal a month ago and when he came up here to visit. Very comfortable ride and the car picks up pretty quick for an automatic. He just broke it in and one time, he punched it on the freeway. It was pretty impressive. There's a lot of little knick knacks and minor nifty features that you have to see for yourself when you check out the car inside and out.

I second that notion. If you can find a dealership with 06's still in stock. You can talk them down to as low as a bit over $28k out the door for a 5EAT.
