This is Daimler-Chrysler here. They can't have a cruddy little neon outperforming their high end import stuff. Well, they CAN.. but they aren't going to document it on paper or published HP/torque figures.
I'm also leery of dorksteer and breakage issues with the SRT4. Haven't a lot of them been blown up?

You know, to date, I've only seen ONE SRT-4 on the road... and after tailing me close for a few minutes, the asswipe blew-off *** he passed. I guess he didn't notice the child I had in the back seat. What a tool

That story was a hoax. Those things are friggin fast and were underrated by Dodge. I'm guessing they did it to keep in the insurance down. Their biggest problem is getting power to the asphalt. This year they come standard with a LSD. The other nice thing about them is they have performance mod options from the factory that are covered under warranty.
For the price, they are the best bang-for-the-buck in terms of straight line performance. Too bad they are FWD. If they were RWD, I would look into one for a track car but since I hate driving FWD, no go for me.
One scary thing is that because they are so inexpensive, I'm sure there will be, if there aren't already, a lot of teenagers and early 20-somethings that will buy them and don't know how to drive them. Of course, FWD is safer for novice drivers than RWD.

I see alot of them now -- mostly drivers in their 20s and 30s. Agreed that FWD sucks too! Oh and Marshall, tell ya what, return the videos on Thursday and I'll give ya another 2! I also have Video Option, Best Motoring, K-1, and Initial D Battle Stage Special if you're interested.
It's a simple reason why the SRT-4s are putting more to the wheel than claimed to the crank. DC decided to rate the power of the car on the most conservative condition, as a worst case scenario. The car was tested hot and without a fan on the intercooler... Thats the reason why people are getting huge numbers to the wheels, because they are testing them in better conditions
Hope that helps the confusion
Those caskets are really monsters
