Can anyone recommend some header wrap? + header question
Just bought a Perrin EL header off a fellow member and need to wrap it. Never wrapped anything before so if anyone can recommend some decent header wrap they've been happy with id appreciate it!
Also does anyone wrap the uppipe + ewg combo?
Also I've been doing some reading about these Perrin EL headers and some people say to have them welded (the part that expands, hard to explain). The original owner of the header never did and said he had no problems of it leaking but i want to double check from other people's personal experience before installing everything.
Thanks!

Never wrapped anything, but I do have the DEI titanium turbo blanket on my car. I love it, and it definitely keeps things cooler under the hood. If you really want to keep the heat in, get it swaintech ceramic coated.
I'm guessing you mean weld the UP to the manifold? That's a very common leak point. If you're worried about leaks, Grimmspeed makes a 2x thick manifold-UP gasket that usually fixes it unless there's something really wrong with the angle of your UP.

I would highly recommend the DEI Titanium header wrap if you are going to wrap yours. Works wonders.
I would also wrap the up-pipe.

Automotive Coatings Price Sheet | Swain Tech Coatings | Industrial Coatings | High Performance Racing Coatings
Their price is $225 approx, but it may cost more due to the cleaning involved so the coating sits on clean metal.

i had mine done in san carlos at a place called accessory plus and they did my headers and uppipe for about $220 in black. the coating is great, i can drive the car hard and open the hood and the heat is much less than before and i can touch the headers after the car is tuned off

Think this will be enough to wrap my header?

Send it off to Swain and have it coated by them. if you look into ceramic coatings and other coating services, you will find that swain is #1. Swain is who Killer B uses to coat their headers.
Thermal wrap only last for so long and then you have to remove the part, the old wrap, clean the part and re wrap. IMO spend the money to have swain do it, install the header and call it a day. I am having them do my UEL, up and my catless DP. FWIW, if your header is used this is the perfect time to send it to get coated the part has been heat cycled a few times and any oil/residues that came on it when it was brand new has since burnt away. This will allow the coating to bond better and last longer. (this is all information i have gathered doing research on best/most efficient over all thermal coating/barrier.

I'm not a huge fan of header wraps. If they get wet, they hold the moisture against the metal and cause rust.
Accessories Plus in Belmont does great work. I've used them for my car, friend's cars, customers cars.

I had my Tomei EL Headers and UP coated at Swaintech. It was around $350 including shipping.

The wrap is fine. Just check it every time you do an oil change. If it's starting to look gnarly you might have to consider doing it again. Take your time. The better job you do the better it will hold up.
You're gonna be all perrin'd out pretty soon here.
