Can anyone help me install struts this weekend?
Hi I-club,
I figured I would post up a thread calling all memebers to help me out this weekend. I am doing a strut swap in my wrx wagon, putting on some forester xt struts and springs so I can run a fatter tire and get off the ground a bit more (I know, raising the wrx? Please don't ban me from I-club.) Anyways, I've never done a strut install and would really appreciate any and all help from experienced I-clubbers. I live on Treasure Island, have tons of parking, some beer, and a bbq and am blocks away from great places to do photo sessions.
I have the following:
4 jack stands (2 heavy duty, 2 autozone)
1 crappy autozone jack
wrenches, sockets (3/8), few extensions, ratchet.
a flat area to work
rubber mallet
pb blaster, wd40, brake cleaner
ghetto breaker bar (length of pipe to slip over ratchet)
I've done my own brake install, IC, UP/DP, axle back, 60k service, sways, and some diy's so I can do some stuff with a wrench. The car currently has the sways and subframe off the car, so the struts should come right out once the brakes are detached.
I would love to have someone bring the following:
spring compressors (heard I might have to swap out the rear tophats)
good floor jack
torque wrench
deep wall sockets? (shouldn't need em)
torque specs???
brake bleeder (if you want to help me change my fluid at the same time
))
misc sockets, wrenches etc,
haha impact gun? air tools?
Please reply to this thread with any advice or if you would like to come by and lend a hand. It would be helpful if you could let me know what you would be able to bring as well. Thanks I-club!

I have spring compressors u can borrow. You will need the deep well sockets fyi.
PM me if you want the spring compressors, I'm probably flying thru T.I. on Weds evening on my way to S.F. I'll try and throw in the instructions/specs paperwork I printed out from the Net & Subaru manual.

Damn, that's tight. Spring compressors checked off, need a few more things and a willing hand or two. We can do some other installs if people have things they'd like a hand with in return.

Sunday, July 27th - Northbay install day
If you're willing to drive, we have all the tools, access to STIS (for torque specs), and about 10 people showing up...and we've got full suspension swaps down to below two hours.
Bunch of Forester guys and gals, but you're installing Forester struts anyway, right?? PM me if you want in.
