05 sti's have a problem with the struts, after about 30k miles, they go out and they start clunking. you'll notice the clunk when taking off from a stop, or when going slow over bumpy road. If your car is under warranty you can put it back to stock and have the dealer fix it for free, otherwise...it's time to get some coilovers.
Listen you ungrateful *****. You came on here asking for help. I told you I can point you to what I will bet is the problem. If not then at least I tried to help you. And doesnt cost you anything but 30 seconds of your time to look at it.
Funny that both of you have this happen after you both had things done to your car that require the vehicle being lifted. In the picture I have included for others to use for reference its at center...metal bracket mounted to outrigger suspended from each other with a bushing...the metal bracket gets the edge bent when lifted by that point and it taps on the outrigger especially on decel and causes a tapping sound...at this point I could care less if you ever get your crap fixed.

05 STi + lowering springs = INFAMOUS STRUT CLUNK!
Do a search for the strut clunk on i-club, you'll find all the threads about it, included my 05 STi and my girls 05 STi

i checked the bracket and nothings touching...I also checked where the driveshaft connects to the rear diff and theres no play. Must be the infamous strut clunk....i'll prolly order some full coilovers next month and we'll see if that solves it..Btw i noticed the driveshaft was 2 piece? Is the middle part of the driveshaft suppose to move a bit or is it suppose to be rock solid.
