Can anyone help me identify this noise..

I started to get this bump/clunk noise from the rear. Happens when i take off from a stop (bump, bump, bump bump) sounds like something in the rear driveline. And then when I get off the accelerator and get back on it, theres a clunk coming from the rear.

Any experience this before? I'm kind of getting worried and annoyed of it. TIA

try checking your sway bar endlinks... if those are tight check the mounts.

after that o would look at your trailing arms and such, as well as the top hats

are you on stock suspension or springs/ coilovers?>

speaking of weird noises, and I don't mean to thread-jack your thread, just figured we could keep it all in one thread...

This has only happened to me about a half dozen times, maybe a few more that I didn't hear due to music, but the noise happens when I take off from a cold start in first gear... As the clutch is still semi-engaged this semi high pitched noise that lasts about a second happens... It's sort of sounds like a robot saying "BUUUUUUUUUR" sort of high pitched. I've never heard this sort of noise in any car in my life, what the f' could it be?

It ONLY happens in 1st gear from a cold start, revving to about 3k, when the clutch is still still semi-engaged.

When did the sound start?
Right after spring install?

More details would be helpful.

yeah THIS IS MY NOISE TOO! ...i think

so when youre cruising down a 25mph street, in a high gear 4th or even 3rd
full on the throttle then get off it ALL THE WAY really fast at low (2000 rpms), it goes CLANK clank clank (gets quieter after 1st CLANK.) like the driveshaft has play in it or something.

i know exactly what that sound is....its caused by you jacking the car up from the outriggers in the rear. GUARANTEED. You bent the edge of the metal, and now it makes metal to metal contact....before the bushing kept it apart. Ill try to get you a pic and edit this post.

well since you're asking what the problem could be and hes giving you a reasonable answer it would be in your best intrest to check it out and see if its the problem.

If that isn't the cause i would get underneath the rear and check how much play there is on the driveshaft. if you push up on the driveshaft there should be no play at the rear differential. if there is you probably have a bad pinion bearing and will have to get a new rear differential.

sounds like a wobble wobble wobble coming from the rear when driving off from a stop.
