Do i really need camber bolts?

I figure more eyes are here than the suspension forums...

ok, so i bought a used set of jdm v8 suspension and went to Auto Innovations to get an alignment. There were able to get 2 of the 3 requested specs I wanted, but had trouble with the rear camber.

Aegon(tom) who I had bought the v8 from got it aligned at a race shop in texas. The alignment dude was able to get -1.7 camber in the rears by loosening the bolts in the rear and using the weight of the car to get that amount of neg camber

Orlando at AI said he's not heard of anyone doing that. Needless to say the rears were left as is.

my set up is like this:

-1.3 front camber (L & R)
-1.2 rear camber (left)
-1.7 rear camber (right)
0 toe all around

AI said the couldnt fix it without camber bolts and couldn't do the rears only...they'd have to do all four again...so that's $100

Is there anyplace that can bring it to -1 rear camber without using camber bolts? Also, what are the odds that this thing really works? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2914814125

I'm thinking I may just need to suck it up, get the camber bolts and make a second visit to AI.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

TIA,

Ryan

its all true. you will need to get the bolts. well at least thats what ive been told/read.

with camber bolts, the alignment price goes up too. i think steve from ai told me its like 100 bucks for alignment.

You deffinately need eccentric bolts for the rear to adjust camber... they're only like $35. There's also no reason why they can't re-align only the rear wheels if they wanted to... but I'm sure they'd rather charge you $100 again. The camber difference you have in the rear is deffinately not ideal, but I've seen worse... mine was .7* off left to right. Get the camber bolts, align it, and be happy.

razorlab - To my knowledge, the prior owner didn't get into an accident with the stuts on his car. The rears may be off .5 from each other due to the install...I did it myself with the help of another i-clubber. Not sure as to if that would have anything to do with it.

vaus - yeah I'll be picking up a set of camber bolts one way or another.

does anyone know of a shop that will only do the rears and not necessarily all four b/c the fronts are to what I want.

If I can save $100 I can prolly divert it to some other funds like the uppipe fund, Cobb AP fund, better axleback fund, etc.
