In regards to the ECU change, the 4eat to 5mt conversions that we have performed, have always been at the time of an EJ20 conversion.
We naturally installed a manual ECU. They have differen't part #'s, so to avoid any computer issues, we have always used 5mt ECU's. It is possible, but not likely that a 5eat ECU will work.

I guess something to think about is why if they are the same do they have different part #'s?

From personal experience and knowing how similar the engineering between Nissan and Subaru is, it should be ENTIRELY possible that the computer from the car with an AT in it, will work with the MT swap.
There are additional sensors on the AT and thus the different part numbers.
I swapped an engine into a car that previously used an automatic tranny. During the process I swapped a manual.
There were no adverse effects, and the car actually ran stronger than the MT due to the Nissan's tuning to make the AT produce the same horsepower numbers as the manual counter part.
but whether or not someone wants to test this out on a swap is up to them.

you seriously can not go wrong with LIC. Sure they might be a couple bucks more than some shops (NOTE: they charge less then the dealership does per hour).
I would be willing to bet my own money LIC will do things right the first time. No need to go back to have something re-fixed.
They are a honest group of guys that know what quality work is, and means to customers.
If you do ever have a problem that another shop can not figure out, LIC *will* find the problem and fix it too.
For this swap you should not consider anyone but the best. LIC Motorsports. :bananen_smilies104:

LIC by far would be my first choice for this type of thing.
I dont even have a subie anymore, and I would still not hesitate to take my car to those guys - not because I think they are Nissan experts, but because I think are are overall experts, and I know that they would get it right the first time, or give it back to me unharmed if they couldn't do it.
