really wouldn't worry about it, if anything the quake a few months back near Hawaii was a bigger threat and that just caused rough waves by the time it got here. They just have to issue the warning as a precaution but Australia has already dropped their warning and they're almost twice as close to japan and take flooding MUCH more seriously there so what does that tell us.

So apparently something in the hispanic community in santa cruz freaked out a bunch of people because, no joke, there were 1-200 hispanic people ONLY, 100 cars or so parked at the summit of 17, causing traffic to be backed up a mile or two on 17north just short of the summit..I wonder what happened that sent only latinos to evacute to the top of 17!

There was a 9' swell at the bay entrance up here. I would not say we are only getting "inches" like in previous warning, but it is not enough to chase away the boarders

A couple of the small coastal towns/areas up here have been evacuated.

Perhaps it was the Spanish speaking media that over-sensationalized the potential tsunami?

Not to downplay the eq in japan but in 2 weeks... another non event "hyped" by the local news...

Remember the big snow storm to hit the bay area? Now this when all reports claim 2-3 feet when you remember how high we are...

Well back to preparing for a major eq...

News said the police evacuated the farmlands because they were unaware of what was going on.
