Yup just saw the emergency broadcast message on TV. My prayers go out to all the people in harms way. I don't know how bad it'll be by the time it reaches the Bay but Hawaii may get hit bad...

Hawaii sounds like it'll get a couple feet. No Good if you're up on the coast. Here in Santa Cruz we'll probably get a couple inches.

Also saw the emergency broadcast on the television. Imminent impact, huh?

This is rather scary now, even if some say it might not severe...

EditOops accidental post in this thread) Mom just called me from grandpas house - she was at a store in ginza and said things flew off the shelves and people were flooding the streets panicking...

She had to walk from ginza to yotsuya/shinjuku - took her almost 2 hours to get home to my grandpa, lucky they both safe

To: U.S. West Coast, Alaska, and British Columbia coastal regions
From: NOAA/NWS/West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center
Subject: Tsunami Warning and Advisory #4 issued 03/11/2011 at 12:51AM PST

The warning and advisory status regions have changed in this message.

The Tsunami Warning continues in effect for the coastal areas of California and Oregon from Point Concepcion, California to the Oregon-Washington border.

Tsunami Warning - a tsunami warning is issued when a potential tsunami with significant widespread inundation is imminent or expected. Warnings alert the public that widespread, dangerous coastal flooding accompanied by powerful currents is possible and may continue for several hours after arrival of the initial wave. Warnings also alert emergency management officials to take action for the entire tsunami hazard zone. Appropriate actions to be taken by local officials may include the evacuation of low-lying coastal areas, and the repositioning of ships to deep waters when there is time to safely do so. Warnings may be updated, adjusted geographically, downgraded, or canceled. To provide the earliest possible alert, initial warnings are normally based only on seismic information. For an example of the National Weather Service (NWS) format tsunami warning CLICK HERE. For a warning cancellation, CLICK HERE.

It appears there may still be danger (or none at all)... I don't know for sure but I can't sleep knowing this will happen tomorrow morning.

what i posted on the other thread.
really wouldn't worry about it, if anything the quake a few months back near Hawaii was a bigger threat and that just caused rough waves by the time it got here. They just have to issue the warning as a precaution but Australia has already dropped their warning and they're almost twice as close to japan and take flooding MUCH more seriously there so what does that tell us.
