CA license plate petition

http://www.petitiononline.com/caplate/

To: CA Legislators
We, the Undersigned, petition the State of California to revoke the current law requiring the display of a front license plate on passenger vehicles.
We support the current and future licensing fee structure, but ask that the law reflect that a front license plate is no longer required.

you never know...

consider this: With one license plate you cut the cost of the new vehicle registration by 50% with no change in fees.

CA is also broke.

How does that dip into the red light ticket fund exactly???

this law is ridiculous... the law is made for the benifit of the people, the people dont want it and most dont see any benifit.

Because the majority of the red light fund is from cameras catching you going through the red light by taking a picture of your front plate.

what's the big deal. if you say it makes your car look ugly, it doesn't really, and it shouldn't matter. your car is a STREET car and must obey the laws of the STREET. If your car is a SHOW car, then pull your plates and park your car and some cotton ***** and you're all set.

If there's gonna be a petition to change a law, at least pick a law that people would actually benefit from if changed.

shoot I say why not. It's a rediculous law anyways. It should be recommended but not mandatory...most people would probably still do it anyways.

I don't run one cause I don't care. I'll pay the stupid $10 once a year or so. **** it. I like my car better without it.

And on the red light thing...I could have swore that in most places those are disabled anyways. It was costing more money than making. I haven't seen one go off in the bay area in like a year. and believe me I've seen some red lights run.
And I thought most were equiped with multiple cameras for just such occassions....they shoot front and rear plates.....but I could be wrong on all of this.

I just a parking ticket for having no plates...so sue me.

Edit>this is post 1000. I am officially online way too much. lol.

army... dont you live in the city? crap, when i lived there i got a ticket for having german plates on my vw. ticket was for $100!!! i couldnt beleive it. i tried contesting it but they wouldnt budge. it was one day after the article in the Chronicle (last May / June) about the traffic cops needing to pull in more revenue. the bs thing is that on my street there must have been 50% of the cars w/o front plates. and of course i get nailed. this goes to all of the law-abiding traffic cops out there

and if tom ridge now sees me as a conspirer against the state, then here is one for you too

in some counties, i'm pretty sure Sacramento county is this way, you can get nailed for the full red light fine just for not having a front plate.

It's a fix it everywhere I've seen. And I've been popped in like 4/5 counties. Just carry your plate in your trunk...get it signed off same day..

It's not a moving violation so I don't see how they could give you a red light fine? It's completely unrelated...I'd fight the crap out of that ticket.

$100 in SF....that's lame man. now everyone knows why I still have my dealer plates on 8 months after I got my car......stupid rediculous purely revenue gaining tickets. SF can suck it....I read somewhere that they raised all of their ticket cost in 2003.....from 23-$40 on expired meeters, 23-$25 for fire hydrants, 50-$75 for blocked drive ways....I can attest to that one I got one. Contested and won it though. We're not as bad as new york though...their tickets are rediculous.

Traffic tickets all went up too. They are grossly over spending and are over budget on so many projects it's rediculous...so it's ticket ticket ticket to make up for that.

I just wish they'd give tickets to joe *** munch that parks taking up 2 spots or runs a red light nearly running some kid over or double parks instead of the guy that's parked perfectly or the guy driving totally safe with no front plate. Or maybe solved some murders every now and again that might be nice too.

I just think california in general has it all backwards....
