A/C trouble shooting
So I finally figured out why my compressor was not engaging it was low on coolant. So I charged it up and to around 32psi and clutch engaged. But now I hear a hissing sound that is constant just under the glovebox when I turn on the A/C and stops after the ac is shut off. Could it be a leaky evaporator?

That hissing sound is the low pressure liquid (after it passes through the orifice before reaching the evaporator) boiling off in the evaporator. Refrigerant has an extremely low boiling point, which is what an Evaporator does, is it removes heat as it's removing heat with the help of the fan blowing air over the evaporator it is boiling off and being converted to a low pressure gas so that it can get sucked into the compressor and discharged out as high pressure gas.
You need to check the temperature and pressure (related) in your AC system and that's done with Manifold gauges (high and low) pressure gauge set.
