Question Buying a new Impreza - need advice!

Hey guys,

I am in the market for a 2013 Impreza Sport commuter. I am debating waiting until the 14's are on the lot before buying a 13' (they are identical). My question is, how much will a dealer go below invoice to clear the 13's when 14's are on the lot? Is it worth waiting if I have already been quoted prices about $1000 under invoice on a 13? Would they be willing to lose more money that that to clear a 13' out?

Hit me with some knowledge i-club!

I got $2,000 under for my new STi about 3 weeks ago. I recommend shopping and looking at which dealerships will give you the best deal.. I bought my car in socal and drove it back up but maybe you cant do that due to what ever reasons. When the 2014's are on the lot, they are more lenient with the previous year and will give you the best deal possible just make sure that when you look at other dealerships and talk with them over the phone.. you get a bottom OTD price and see if your local dealer will match it (in my situation they wouldnt thus why I traveled to get it)

Thanks for the input, I've been calling all the bay area dealerships to make sure I get the best price.

Amazing site, thank you.
Even take a look at the elk grove dealership.. They sometimes will have a good deal going on. Also.. I believe there is a good financing deal on all impreza models so be sure to question about it. Another dealership you might want to look at is carlsen in redwood city (very nice fleet options there for a good price)

What type of Impreza are you looking at getting? 5dr/4dr, sport premium or limited? CVT or 5 spd? Thought about getting one for communting when the time is right for me to buy one but not sure which route I wanna go. I've driven both the CVT and 5 speed and honestly the CVT feels like it has better throttle response than the 5 speed.

I second the truecar.com I've been looking at it and I've seen discounts on new 5dr Impreza's and Crosstrek's pushing close to 3k savings.

For me I was pretty much set on a Sport (Only available in hatchback) Premium with CVT. I test drove the auto then the manual and it sealed the deal for me on CVT. With the increased throttle response of the CVT, better MPG and the paddle shifters it is a no brainer in my mind.

I was quoted $20,900 + tax/dmv for a Sport Premium with Popular Package 1 which was $900 below invoice. I walked though. I was having second thoughts on a brand new car and I have a gut feeling that the deals will be more aggressive when 14's are actually on the lot, regardless of how popular these cars are.

My wife and I are thinking about buying new cars and the Impreza was on our short list. We went to take a look at them yesterday and really liked the practically of the car. We were up front with the salesmen about our purchase being anywhere from 1 to 3 months away. The salesmen told us that there would be great deals once the 2014 models hit the showroom floor.

I heard a buddy was having a hard time at a car dealer, and sent him this link after you posted it. Since then, he has found a new dealer and a new car and is saving I think $1500 or somesuch. He's super stoked - thanks again for the recommendation.
