Between the day job, building products after hours, building/designing product in solidworks, and dealing with suppliers I just dont have the time and energy to put into building a website unfortunately.

Funny thing is... I'm a designer and I need to sit down with someone and do a portfolio site. LOL! I just don't have the time to mess with it. I've got a couple half *** web portfolios. I need a real one.

LOL! I guess I'll get my *** in gear and compile the samples and just do it.

oh... and if you're not planing on learning web design to make web sites for any in particular reason why not go template based? You can do some cool stuff with template services. Cheap.

I'm thinking about doing a nice wordpress based one for my portfolio so I can manage it from my phone.

if you are looking for book lernin', I would suggest trying out the Lynda books. I have always had good luck with them and have learned a good foundation of Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and In Design via those books.

This series has definitely been helpful!

Me! Hahaha, I have zencart, but haven't actually set it up yet because there are a billion different settings and it looks like **** anyway. But I need something basic to sell t-shirts, glasses, and photo prints.

yeah zencart is just "meh" imo. i've never used it because it never supported everything we wanted.

in all honesty, you might want to look at bigcartel.com, they do exactly what you want for a monthly fee. if not, i can help you look into other options. PMs are best for me.

Thanks, I checked out the info on it and it looks good. I'll delve into more after this week.

yeah i mean if you're selling enough shirts it should be fine, i don't know what your margins and stuff will be like, but i'm guessing you don't want to pay for a host, ups account, payment processor, and pci compliance.

i manage larger scale distribution, so for smaller personal ecommerce, it's easy to use someone's service.

I'm sure myself and my partner could use someone with your kind of skills at some point.

We have a good amount of front-end and back-end experience between the two of us, but we haven't dove into the whole ecommerce realm yet. I have a Murach book that covers all about it but haven't had time to dig into it.

Are you going to BAM tomorrow? Maybe we can exchange cards / info.
