If the rear bumper crash beam is okay, and the tailights still align, you are safe getting a new tailgate and bumper.

Right on. Yeah im aware of that.. everything is covered through other party's insurance.

still waiting on word on the damages.. if they considered it total loss since it may cost more to fix vs value of car.. should I buy back and fix it? Also have been looking at 09 wrx hatch

Depends on what you want more. If you want to stick with this wagon, Then I would buy it back, if the price is appropriate, and source those parts out to begin the repair.

If you rather a change and watch a hatch, then go for it and grab a hatch.

I've always liked the wagon over the hatches, but different chassis and complete different feeling. Parts for the 08+ are usually more expensive too in the long run.

I just saw a JDM rear tail gate on craigslist somewhere... Wouldn't be too hard to source those parts.

Why did you black out the freeway signs from the picture? You worried about big brother knowing too much?

At first glance, it looks like all you need is the rear hatch, bumper cover, and beam. Shouldn't be too bad at all, under 5k with a repaint, I doubt they will total it.

IF they do, here is what you do.

1)Tell them that you are not willing to have it totaled, that you will take the max payout, and they will not be putting a salvage title on the car.
2)PUSH that, no salvage title, they will fight but eventually they give in.

Thanks Overbear! Have you been in a situation like this?

Im thinking leaning towards taking it back already have too much in it to let it go.

Help a brother out. Anyone have or know of the parts I need (liftgate, bumper, beam, etc.)?

Yes with a TJ jeep, they wanted to total it, but wouldn't give us the value of it (had over 30k in upgrades) so we ended up just taking the max payout (10k) and eating the other 5k in repairs out of pocket, just to keep the salvage title off it.

Sorry about the car man.. I think I know where your picture was taken. I might have even seen you driving around.

Insurance will probably have you take it to a body shop for an estimate or have an estimator come out and then make their decision based on that. Hopefully they do you right.

Remember in CA you do NOT have to accept their estimate, you can get as many as you want then submit the one you wish to use. They do not have a right to have their "adjuster" make the decisions, and you can ask for other "adjusters" to come out.
