Brz Turbo Rumor?

just searched brz turbo on google and found a few sites talking about how subaru is in the process of making an engine for the brz with a turbo. Something we all wanted to hear Subaru developing engine for BRZ Turbo

AN's unnamed sources indicate that this engine will use a twin-scroll turbocharger and a new direct-injection system that will help give the engine an estimated 280 horsepower and torque that could be in excess of 250 pound-feet... still being sent to the rear wheels. The turbo'd BRZ will reportedly be making its debut for the 2014 model year, but it isn't clear if Subaru will simply call the car a BRZ Turbo or if it will finally deliver the BRZ STI that many enthusiasts have been clamoring for since the BRZ STI Concept hit the scene in 2011.

09 was a slap in the face to 08 owners. 11 was a slap in the face to 10 owners. It happens.

i think its better to not buy the first year model of a car.. the 2nd/3rd year will be a lot more improved.

The torque seems a little high for 280hp though but who knows...Maybe a tuned one will make stage 2 sti power in a lighter chassis

Who wants a stock turbo system anyways? Who cares if subaru makes one with a turbo, it's just gonna get replaced with something better and bigger aftermarket anyways. Already quite a few 400+whp brz/frs whathaveyou running around.

I heard there are always problems with a aftermarket turbo system for a stock NA car

but if you have that same NA car with a upgraded factory turbo it would be a little more reliable

just like its better to buy a wrx/sti than buying a 2.5 impreza and putting a turbo on it

LOL I heard the turbo wrx and sti were very reliable as well. Tell that to almost every car platform out there that came stock n/a and now has aftermarket turbo support. If people are gonna go for power they are gonna go for power and they ditch lots f factory stuff like the factory engine. All I do everyday of the week is build turbo setups for people. Hell my soon to be turbo'd e30 will have more power then my sti because I don't trust subaru motor and my motor was once n/a.

Id love for it to actually happen. Yes you can throw a turbo on the current brz but it would be way more reliable if it came with a turbo stock in the first place. Throwing a turbo on a na is just waiting for trouble. It just cant handle the high boost, even though I've seen those 400+whp brz's but who knows how long those will last before they break stuff.

Yes this is what i meant with my post. Modding an already turbo platform is easier than modding a na platform with aftermarket turbo

You only see videos of brz with 400hp but you dont get to see what happens behind the scene. They probably work for weeks if not months to produce a 3 minute video and then after that its back to the shop

but who knows this is just my guess and opinion
