Seems like the zoo is getting off easy. That cat should not have been able to get out.. with or without people taunting it. It's a wild animal and anything could set it off.

I also think people underestimate animals by believing they're just dumb creatures. The fact that the cat was able to get out, track down the ones that taunted her says enough. Regardless, 900mil is better than nothing.

Families learned one thing... don't taunt a wild animal. LoL, good lesson that you should carry on with the rest of their lives. Sure, it might have been fun when ur in middle school, until one jumps out and kills you both.

Play with a snake, and got bitten. The question is, would the tiger have jumped out if there was no taunting? Probably not.

seems like a pretty lowball amount, esp considering the one of the guys got killed. rodney king got a few MILL ticket$$ just for getting his butt whupped!
Rodney King didn't do anything.

Those kids were screwing with the tigers. This is like someone breaking in to your house and sueing you for getting attacked by your dog.

I don't think they should have had to pay jack.

not condoning the kids' foolish behavior or actions, but Zoo was undoubtedly negligent & irresponsible w/their sub-standard (not to code & ILLEGAL) handling AND enclosures for the tigers. just imagine if innocent by-standers got attacked or killed too! the zoo got off easy and should have been more harshly penalized to make them re-evaluate the state of their facilities. they have an obligation to ensure the safety of their visitors. yes, those kids teased the tigers, but they didn't jump into the cages/exhibit. it shouldn't have been even possible for the tigers to get out.

that said, it was reported that the zoo reached a settlement w/the bros' family.....meaning the case didn't make it all the way through court. in that case, the family must've had some CW network infomercial lawyer cuz settling for $900k when both bros were attacked & one of them ends up being killed is plain rediculous.

True that. Good point.

But if I'm not mistaken then were hanging over the fence and messing with them.
