Brake questions

How are different brake systems rated? Obviously more pots = better stopping but Im trying to find out whats the difference between jdm 4 pots, usdm 4 pots, brembo gold, brembo red, stoptechs, wilwood etc.

What makes certain 4/6 pots worth more than others?

Well when looking at brakes, the number of pistons, and the diameter of pistons and the surface area of the rotor.

Nasisuck has a pretty big brake writeup

Stoptech/AP Racing BBK > Brembo GT BBK > STI Brembos > Rotora BBK > Wilwood BBK > Legacy GT Brakes > WRX 4pots/Legacy 2.5i/Outback

Good pads on smaller calipers can still do better than crappy pads on a BBK.

The bigger the rotor, the better the heat dissipation, and the less your brakes will fade on track days.

The more pistons, the better the stopping power.

Some Wilwoods don't have dust seals, so they need regular piston cleaning and more frequent rebuilds. That's why you may see them for cheaper on NASIOC classifieds.

Here is the LGT BBK Writeup:
