Brake pad questions

Upgrading my brake pads. Yes, I know it's not a Suby, but the two brands I'm checking out are used by Suby owners too, so I'm asking here.

- Hawk HPS
- Hawk Performance Ceramic
- EBC OEM Plus

Also I'm upgrading the rotors

- Rotora Cross drilled/slotted
- Rotora Slotted
- Baer Cross drilled/slotted
- Brembo Sport Series slotted or Cross drilled

Anything I need to look out for? If it's any consolation, I'm also using ATE Super Blue fluid.

Depending on your driving habits, Hawk HPS are decent pads for the money. If you're dd'ing the car and don't drive too hard, you should be good. But if you are tracking the car, i'd suggest the Hawk HP Plus.

I've done 2 track days and my Hawk HPS are fading and squeaky already...less than 3000 miles!

I'm considering Stoptech SP pads when it's time to replace mine.

I just got Hawk HPS pads installed on my front rotors recently. Braking performance has improved, but I've noticed a bit more squeaking. Im not sure if its from the pads though.

I went to GST for my brake system. Normal daily driver.
I got Centric high Performance Slotted Rotors (good rotors for the price, about the same as OEM rotors)
Stoptech SS lines (covered and not hanging out raw; sheathed)
Motul Fluid
Axxis Ultimate fronts and rear pads
And a Brake master stiffi =p.

Ceramics will die out faster, but does decrease the brake dust (so if you're lazy to wash your car, or just want to be more showy) then I'd consider this, but they do burn out considerably quicker.

I am also curious to know what people think about Hawk Pads and Rotora Rotors

Paul knows about a lot of the materials. Many brands that compete are actually from the same parent company, it's either they gave them the patent or they just changed the name. LoL

try the HP Plus </sarcasm>. my wheels are caked a couple of days after a wash.

don't go drilled. you don't need it. hell, you don't even need slots. (i do run the stoptech/powerslot slotteds). a pair of brembo oem-style "blanks" will do you just as good.

Axxis Ultimates here, just as good if not better than stock STi pads. Not too expensive but they do dust. I'm very happy with them.

a thread that makes the case for axxis ultimates. they are supposed to dust pretty bad but be quieter, with good stopping power, and less fade than hawks.
