BOV trouble and exhaust
SO I bought a BOV finally. I like it but I dont. Heres the set up. I am running full catless HELIX turboback exhaust. Perrin Short ram intake and BOV (Atmospheric). No tune
So since I installed this BOV my experience has been very loud BACK FIRES! and bouncing idle. Is this due to lack of Tune or do BOVs just suck that bad? I am going back to stock tonight
My exhaust is freakishly loud and am getting annoyed by it now. I want a nice ride to cruise in, not a cop magnet.. Any suggestions on some nice low profile exhaust? Anyone want to trade catless helix for catted?

Do your self a favor and talk to a local tuner. Ed(EQ Tuning) or Moike(GST).
You don't need and an after market BOV, the stock one works perfectly fine for smaller turbos w/ TMICs.

I'm catless here with an EVO2 pretty quiet I like it. Some people don't because its too quiet. I also have a BOV so BANG once in a while. I shift granny style so my rpms are always low.
Do what Matt says and save yourself a lot of trouble. The Bay Area is a mecca for tuning scoobys, so take advantage before you damage your motor.

Yeah, if you want the BOV for that cool sound, as do I, get one that doesn't vent 100 percent to the atmosphere, I thikn you want a 50/50, and GFB makes one that works pretty ok with our cars. Some BOVs hurt your car, some won't, and NON will help it. Yeah, and Helix catback is a pretety damn loud exhaust, ESPECIALLY running catless! As other have mentioned, you want sometihng like a Borla Hush or Evo2, but anything with a catless will make it much louder.

It is the (tune and bov) that causes the back fire. They are normally made for people who have bigger turbo's. What kind of BOV did you get anyway? As for low profile exhaust, Borla Dual Tip, Greddy SP2. . .but if you really like the rumble but you want a stealth look, consider a Perrin Dual Tip. Where in the E Bay are you located? Anyway, do you have black interior? I'm looking to trade my STI interior for great condition black interior plus $360 OBO. LMK if your interested.

I already did a STI interior swap. But thanks for the offer. I am sure someone is willing to do that with you, sweet deal.
Thanks guys for all the input. I am going to get a tune eventually, just dont have 900 bucks layin around for Mike to tune it.
oh well. It only makes a loud back fire in first gear after reaching high rpm then it backs down and pop! Mike told me I was running rich. Dont know if the BOV made any difference

^ Oh boy!
You should take everything off until you get a tune.
You will still be like chitty chitty bang bang with a tune, BOV, and TBE Catless.
At least try looking at a hybrid BOV and playing with that. Even then, mostly with a catless tbe, you'll get some gun shoots.
boh boh boh, dem bloodclots gwan fi ded! Eaaar Me?

take the intake off till you get tuned also thats where you idle fluctuatuion is coming from thats not the best intake for a suby either there are ones that work and others that just make it run like crap.
subys are really sensative to after market parts without tuning and you could damage your motor driving it hard with those parts on and no tune

get rid of the BOV...... you are spewing out air that your car things is there and making up for that air it thinks is there with fuel... soo by not having a tune you're confusing you car..
get rid of the bov or get a recirculating bov so it doesn't remove air..
and why did you say "so i got a bov finally"??
why finally... no one with a stock turbo/tmic needs an aftermarket bov... so finally just makes you look like teh ghey
