Bosal Cat-back Opinions
What are your opinions about the Bosal cat-back made for Subaru by SPT Performance?....in terms of sound and performance enhancement. According to Subaru, if this package is installed ($800 for all bosal exhaust, intake, and spt heat shield), you should see a 45 hp increase.

Uh... I probably wouldn't do anything to your Limited. If anything, maybe a Borla Hush. I mean... you went through the trouble of buying a Limited which was to replicate a sleeper. I guess getting a bigger and badder exhaust takes away from that. I am all for the intake and heatshield though.

Cant help ya with the exhaust, but I will recommend not getting an intake. Search for intake and see how many people have issues with a bolt on intake and no tune, or issues with inaccurate readings to the airflow sensor. Intakes are usually only needed for bigger turbo setups....someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Realistically, your HP and torque gains are going to be from a downpipe and engine management or tuning.
It really depends what you want out of the car. More HP and torque, sound, stealth. And as long as you dont beat on the car, it will still be valuable. Just keep the stock parts if in doubt.

why would you not modify a limited?
Its still a subaru, its not gonna become a classic
I'd get a limited to get the leather seats and the couple of other little things it comes with...modifying the car isn't gonna change all those extra perks that come with the car
I would stay away from the bosal though, that thing is raspy

i have the SPT catback on my wrx. i didnt feel any power gains, but i do love the sound it makes. not too loud, and not quiet. i think if you search for the SPT catback on here or the other forum, you'll find some opinions from others. it also looks more stockish than some of the bigger cans out there incase you wanted some "stealth". altho its pretty shiny, so not too stealthy in that aspect.

I modded my "limited production" '06 spec.B all to hell...

If you can wait, Crucial Racing Cat Back should be out any time now. I highly recommend it, as I'm running their prototype. Awesome sound, very stealthy, and it would go perfect with a STi Limited Edition, as it's just loud enough
.
I'd also look into their coated down pipe / race pipe, or if you want, opt for the high flow cat (It'll cost you more, but be less smelly).
Forgot to mention, I've heard good things about the SPT Intake, but you won't see much out of it without a tune

Thanks for all the feedback guys!! :-)

I'd stay away from the SPT intake. Many tuners have found that it doesn't really make any positive gains. Also, I don't know if you've heard a shortram intake in a car before, but it's quite loud. Go with a CARB exempt cold air intake (like the Prodrive or AEM), which has a longer tube and mounts the filter in the fender area. It's much quieter.

Honestly, after thinking about it, I'd go for a Cobb AccessPort first (are they out for the '07s?). You could add a cat-back to it if you want. If Stage 1 isn't enough for you, then add a downpipe and flash to Stage 2. Because, in reality, any intake isn't going to do much for you without tuning for it.
