cant tell you how much it amuses me seeing more and more import guys coming to their senses and dropping LS motors into their cars.

The VG30 barely fits in there. I had no idea you could shoehorn and LS1 in there

Sorry guys the site is back up and running....we were doing updates last night and so it was down....we kept getting that error message too..the updates were laggin. if you click on the SCC magazine on our page it takes you directly to the page

hehe shoehorn would be a good choice of words!!!
the whole tunnel was cut to fit everything. its insane. suprisingly the ls1 is a lot lighter than the VG!
the Z is on youtube....type in blacktrax...should say Akis LS1 300 or something.
its also on Sport Compact cars website under videos.

Link to all the cars that competed Teaser Vids

The exterior dimensions of an LS1 are surprising small. That's the beauty of thin heads (relative to an overhead cam engine) and a single cam nestled between the heads.

Hmmmm. You make a very good point about the heads not sticking out. And I would expect the LS1 being lighter than the chunk of iron that is the VG30.

blacktraxgirl,

Do you know of any other LS1 + 300ZX swaps?

I know the LS1 is a beast, but the VG30 can hold up to some abuse too. The thought of a 300V8 never really crossed my mind, even after drooling over the RX-7s that have done it.

Congrats to you and your crew! I'm going to go read the SCC article now.
