I recommend the 500GB models, internal or external. I am giving it some time to see how they work out the reliability issues when dealing with 1TB+ drives. Just food for thought.
Which big hard drive is reliable in your opinion? =) Brand and model!

I prefer Segate & WD. No problems other than the usual 3-5 year slow death.

Stay away from Maxtor.

FYI Segate recalled their HD's earlier this year for the 30% failure rate, but in general their a reliable brand for HD's:

Maxtor hasn't existed for some time now. Seagate bought them several years ago.

Anything that you buy with a Maxtor label on it is Seagate marketed under a different brand name.

Yeh, but it's ingrained in my head to not trust them still...

I gave them a benefit of the doubt and I bought one thinking "hey, segate bought them, maybe they're reliable now"...

It does still work, but it's clunking pretty slow.

maxtor = old navy
segate = GAP

They might each be the same companies, but being a budget brand still shows.

Yup, I had a Maxtor Central Axis 1tb NAS. It failed for now reason what so ever. I opened the sucker up cause they wanted to charge me like $600 to try and recover my data. Screw you, I'll do it myself. Opened it up, Seagate HD is inside the Maxtor case. So I replaced it with a D-Link NAS with 2 1TB WD HD's.

Nothing for daddy though... BOGUS!!!!!!! haaaaaaa. daddy don't have a job so he can't complain to much though....

I ended up beating an Asian man with my crutch (broke my ankle) after he tried to knock me over... I got a good 5 or 6 really hard hits in before the black dude that was standing behind me stopped the altercation. I was just standing there and this older Asian dude just knocks my *** over, so I get up, run after him as fast as I can (with crutches) and proceed to beat him senseless.

This is when the game cube came out... We all waited in line for hours and hours, he didn't... He just rushed in and cut in front of everyone. I bet he'll never do that again.
