Westerners refer to North America and Europe as the Occident, hence Occidental.

btw...offending word is supposed to be "***" not "oriental".

btw#2...Orient means east, Occident means west. both originating in Latin. so oriental means nothing more than easterner. But then again, try calling an african american a N-word...that's also straight from latin. I'm sure people won't say "no biggie" if Parcells had said "I mean no disrespect to *******, but we call those plays "white-wimmin-stealing" plays".
