Thumbs up Big Waves

HEy guys I was wondering if anyone got a chance to check out the opening 2006 Surf competition at Mavericks in Half Moon Bay. I ended up going to the San Jose auto show that day, totally forgot about the surf off. Next time we should get a group together and cruise out with our Subie's. Besides it is Subaru country. =)

Here's some info on the event...

Thumbs up

Ya, Tow In surfing has really taken Big Wave Surfing to a whole new level. Most of that stuff was just to full of white water to get to. Now they have the tool to set them up on the face. Some of those waves are so big there would be no other way.

if you watch the movie "riding giants" those OG surfers would paddle out to 50footers which is nuts. paddling out to a 15ft set is hard enough.

i would be down to check out any comps with anyone from here to socal.. i dont mind driving to watch some of my favorite surfers..

anyone wanna go surfing while the waves are big? i ride an 8ft gun.
